The Last Days Of Pompeii: The Immersive Exhibition takes visitors on a journey through one of history’s most dramatic moments, bringing the ancient city back to life before its sudden destruction. Using state-of-the-art technology, visitors can explore the streets of Pompeii, step inside the Villa of Mysteries, one of the most well preserved suburban ancient Roman villa on the outskirts of Pompeii, witness the grandeur of the amphitheater, and experience the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in a way never seen before. The exhibition combines immersive projections, virtual reality, a metaverse experience, and a curated collection of real artifacts to create a deeply engaging and educational visit.

The exhibition features several distinct immersive spaces, including:
- The Immersive Hall: A large-scale digital projection room where visitors walk through the city of Pompeii and experience its final days.

Each area of the exhibition offers a different perspective on Pompeii:
- Immersive Hall – A stunning 360º projection that brings Pompeii’s streets to life, showing daily life before the eruption and its eventual destruction.
- Virtual Reality Experience – A fully immersive journey that places visitors inside the Roman amphitheater, experiencing Pompeian entertainment firsthand, from chariot races to gladiatorial battles.
- Metaverse Room – Visitors become avatars and explore the Villa of the Mysteries, walking freely through its stunning frescoed rooms, gardens, and bathhouses.
- Scenic Built Area – A beautifully recreated peristyle garden, amphitheater, and fountains, allowing visitors to physically step into a Roman environment.
- Museal Area – Displays a curated selection of real artifacts from prestigious collections, including Roman glass, marble sculptures, and gladiatorial equipment. This area also features a Vulcano Area, which explores the eruption’s geological impact and presents the famous body casts of Pompeii’s victims.
- AI Photo Booth – Visitors can see themselves transformed into a Pompeian aristocrat before the eruption, with historically accurate attire and styling.
- Soundtrack Experience – The exhibition features an original soundtrack by René Merkelbach, recorded with a live orchestra, blending classical Roman-inspired compositions with cinematic scoring.

What are the age restrictions for attending the exhibition?
All ages are welcome. 0-3 years go free (no ticket purchase necessary). Anyone 15 years and under must be accompanied by at least one ticket purchaser who is 18+ to enter the exhibition. We recommend the Metaverse and VR experiences for children aged 5+.

Will there be strobe lights?
Yes, strobe lighting will be used during the exhibition, which may affect customers who suffer from photosensitive epilepsy.

Yes, we have a gift shop inside the venue which accepts card payments only.
Can I use cash on site?
Yes, you can pay with cash on site, however, we prefer cashless payment at all outlets.
Can I bring food and drink?
No food and drink are allowed to be consumed inside the exhibition. If you need to bring specific food or medicine due to a pre-existing medical condition then please supply the relevant supporting medical evidence.
Are there vegan or gluten-free options available?
Yes, we have some vegan options available.
Will food and drinks be available on-site for purchase?
Yes, OBEX offers drinks (coffee, tea, Softs, Beer, Wine) as well as a regionally inspired variety of food.
What language will the exhibition be in?
The exhibition’s primary language will be German, with additional support for English through exhibit text. If additional language options are confirmed, we will provide an update.
Does the experience take place in an indoor or outdoor venue?
The exhibition is held in an indoor venue.
Is there air conditioning?
Yes, there is air conditioning and heating as required. However, due to the sheer size of the venue, no sufficient cooling is available during summer time.
Can I take photos or record the experience?
Handheld cameras (including DSLR) can be brought into the exhibition, and guests are welcome to take photos and share them. When taking photos, please make sure not to disturb other visitors. Tripods and professional accessories are not permitted.
Are there chairs available? Can I be seated during the exhibition?
The exhibition is a walk-through event. There are some benches and swivel seats in selected rooms.
Are lockers available at the venue?
There is a locker system ( for €1 - coin) for customers to leave bags or personal items should they wish to. Backpacks and bags larger than A4 in size will not be allowed inside the exhibition.
Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code, but we advise to please dress comfortably as this is a walk-through, interactive exhibition.
Is there a lost and found contact?
Yes, please contact us here. Lost property is kept for 14 days after the exhibition closes, items will be disposed of after this time.
Is the exhibition suitable for children?
The exhibition is accessible to all ages. Parental discretion is advised when deciding if the exhibition will be suitable for your child.

Where is The Last Days Of Pompeii: The Immersive Exhibition located?
The exhibition is being presented in OBEX, the new Center for Immersive Experiences in Oberhausen.
How do you get to The Last Days of Pompeii: The Immersive Exhibition?
OBEX is in an excellent location in the city of Oberhausen. Just a 15-minute walk from Oberhausen main station. OBEX is also served by several bus lines every 10-15 minutes, which stop at two bus stops on Duisburger Strasse. You can also get to OBEX quickly with your own vehicle from the A3 motorway (OB-Lirich junction) and the A42 motorway (OB-Buschhausen junction). OBEX has more than 240 of its own parking spaces right next to the entrance. Parking costs €6 per visit for exhibition visitors.

Accessibility
How do I book a ticket for my Companion/PA?
Guests who require assistance throughout the exhibition are eligible for a complimentary Companion ticket. Companions will be granted free admission on arrival (no ticket purchase is needed in advance).
If you require the assistance of a Companion/PA, we ask that you provide one of the following forms of documentation, to be shown on entry. This will act as evidence of your requirements. Without this documentation we will be unable to provide a complimentary Companion/PA ticket.
Accepted forms of documentation include:
A registered "B," "H," or "Bl" in your disability ID card.
Please note that the guest requiring assistance must have a valid entry ticket. If the visitor is a child, to obtain a free Companion or PA ticket, there must be at least one full-priced General Admission ticket in the group.
Can I book a companion ticket alongside a The Vesuvius Package Ticket?
A Companion Standard Ticket is available alongside all our ticket types. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a Companion Vesuvius Package Ticket due to the number of additional inclusions it has. Companions will be granted free admission on arrival (no ticket purchase is needed in advance), provided accepted forms of documentation are presented on the door (See FAQ: ‘How do I book a ticket for my Companion/PA?’ for more information).

Are there accessible toilets at the venue?

Are service dogs allowed?
Yes, assistance dogs are welcome, Please be aware that if the dog’s behaviour does not meet the required standards, entry may be denied.
According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission, assistance dogs are highly trained to:
- Stay with their owner and not wander freely.
- Sit or lie quietly on the floor next to their owner.
- Avoid fouling in public areas.
- All assistance dogs must remain on a lead at all times.
Is the exhibition accessible for deaf people?
The Exhibition is a highly visual experience. The sound used in our various experiences is an integral part of the experience – unfortunately, we can’t offer that to deaf people.
Is the exhibition accessible for blind people?
Yes, it is. However: it is a highly visual exhibition that would need assistance for the visually impaired to understand what is happening around them.
Is there a minimum age limit for the virtual reality headsets?
We recommend the Metaverse and VR experience for children aged five and above. At their own discretion, we welcome parents to sit younger children on their laps while the child wears the glasses, if desired.
Will there be an audio guide?
There are no audio guides for this experience.
How much are tickets?
Ticket prices vary by date and time. 0-3 years go free (no ticket purchase necessary). Prices start from €14.00 per Child (4-15 years), €23.50 for General Admission (16+) and €47.50 for the ‘Vesuvius Package.’
What is included in The Vesuvius Package?
The Vesuvius Package offers entry plus limited edition merchandise to our fans. The Vesuvius Package is priced at one rate but varies depending on what time session you purchase. Prices start from €47.50.

Do I need to print my ticket?
No, if you purchased your ticket(s) through Fever, your contactless tickets will be delivered directly in the Fever App, available at the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.
I can't find my ticket. What should I do?
If you booked through Fever, you can find your ticket with the QR code in the Fever app, within the Tickets section. If you don’t have it installed, you can download it from the
Apple Store or Google Play. Remember to log in using the same account that you used when buying the tickets.

Can I purchase a ticket at the door?
Yes, you can buy a ticket via card payment on the door. However this is subject to availability, so we advise to book in advance where possible, particularly on a Saturday/Sunday.
Can I transfer my tickets to another person?
Yes, you can transfer your tickets to another person for free. Any queries relating to your ticket(s) should be directed at the ticket outlet you booked through.
Terms and Conditions of Ticket Purchase
The official and only approved ticketing partners of this show are those listed on the event website ONLY. If any tickets are bought or sold through any other platform or secondary resale company, such as Viagogo, then the event organiser reserves the right to cancel the tickets. The ticket will IMMEDIATELY BECOME INVALID if resold OR OFFERED FOR SALE. The ticket is a personal, revocable license and, at all times, remains the property of the event organiser.
This ticket must be surrendered to the event organiser upon request. If you have tickets and are unable to attend the event, then please get in touch with the ticket agent you purchased through before trying to resell any tickets through any of the aforementioned resale sites.

About Tickets
Can I bring a bag?
No bags larger than A4 are allowed within the exhibition.
Backpacks and large bags will not be allowed inside the exhibition. We have a high number of chargeable lockers for you to store your bags and coats when you visit. You can reserve and pay for your locker via your phone by scanning the QR code as you enter the hall. Our onsite team will be happy to guide you should you require any assistance. The dimensions of the lockers available are: Large locker size: 60cm high x 50cm wide x 80cm deep. Medium locker size: 45cm high x 30cm wide x 45cm deep.
Lockers are usable for free, using a €1,- coin as deposit inside.
Can I take food and beverages into the exhibition?
No food or beverages are to be consumed inside the exhibition. You will be asked to dispose of any open foods/beverages before entering the exhibition.
Exceptions on medical grounds can be made but water must be in a lidded/sealed bottle. Please make the staff aware upon arrival.
Do I need to arrive at the start of my scheduled session?
The premise offers very limited space for guests arriving early to wait. Therefore, please try to arrive on time, max. 5 minutes before the start of your booked slot.
What if the weather is bad?
The weather will not impact the exhibition as it is indoors.
We always aim to limit and reduce queuing outside the entrance. In the event of inclement weather, our team will work to ensure any queuing outside is minimised as much as possible.
What is prohibited at the exhibition?
Weapons, bladed/sharp articles, ammunition, explosives, horns, whistles, drums, fireworks, flags, flagpoles, inflatables, wet umbrellas, glass bottles, flammable liquids in any container, laser pens, professional camera equipment, confetti, glitter bombs, paint, paint powder, glue, balloons, wheeled footwear, helmets, full face masks, card readers or any other item which in our reasonable opinion, may cause danger or disruption to any Event or to other visitors (regardless of whether or not such item is illegal or is carried for specific purposes); ceremonial bladed articles, where certain conditions for entry are not met.
Food and beverages, flash photography, prams and buggies, alcohol, smoking, vaping, umbrellas and anything which may disturb the other patrons.
Is this a child-friendly environment?
The exhibition is a child-friendly environment.
Can I smoke or vape?
No. Smoking in OBEX is strictly prohibited. There is a small outdoor garden, where smoking is allowed.
Are prams/buggies allowed?
Due to the nature of the exhibition being made up of artefacts, prams and buggies are not allowed to be brought into the exhibition. There is a small buggy park available but with very limited spaces. To avoid disappointment, we kindly ask where possible for prams and buggies to be left at home or in the car.
Are there toilets at the exhibition?
Yes, we have enough toilets available.
Where are the baby changing facilities?
In the wheelchair accessible toilet, we have also prepared baby changing facilities.
What happens if I arrive late?
If you are late or experience any travel issues, please speak to one of our stewards at our exhibition upon arrival and they will try and accommodate your booking at the next available slot. This is not guaranteed.
Can I bring animals?
The exhibition is not suitable for animals.
Is there Wi-Fi at the exhibition?
Since we are in the city center of Oberhausen, the coverage by almost all providers is sufficient. OBEX does not feature a public wifi.
